"靖远县大庙香水梨有500多年种植历史，有存活300年之久的香水梨树，曾为朝廷贡品。

1、地属黄土高原沟壑区，地势西高东低，由西北向东南倾斜，南北长125公里，东西宽106公里，总面积5809.4平方公里，海拔1300～3017米之间，土地肥沃，条件优越，适宜发展生态农业和农业产业化的开发。

2、水利资源丰富，境内河流流经靖远县10个乡镇，流程154公里，县内有刘川、兴电和双永三大水利提灌工程，灌溉面积57万亩。

3、属温带干旱半干旱气候，每年均气温8.9℃左右，每年极端最高气温35.1℃，每年均降水量240毫米，每年蒸发量1634毫米，每年平均日照时数2696小时，无霜期165天。
