in和with, by 都可以表示＂用 ＂ 。in 是用某种材料、语言等，with表示手段和工具，＂用……、以……、靠……＂。by是用某种方法或手段 。

（2）Baker closes the box with tape .

贝克用带子把箱子捆起来 。

(3) You can study the grammar by memorizing it .

你可以通过记忆学习语法 。

by 可以用于被动语态结构中 ，意为＂由 . 被＂ 。

eg : The pupils are given some advice by the teacher .

这位老师给了这些小学生一些建议 。

（4）by ，with 都可表示＂用 ＂ ，但，by 一般指用某种方式，常接 doning sth ，而 with 一般指用某种具体的工具 。如：by fishing 通过钓鱼 ，with your eye 通过你的眼睛 。

eg: Nowadays some hospitals refer to patients _ name , not case number .

（4）后街复合宾语，说明附带情况。

（5）与副词连用，构成祈使句 。

eg: On with your shoes ! 穿上鞋子 !

（6）with 可构成复合结构，在句中作伴随状语，原因状语，时间状语等，其结构如下：

（A）:with +obj +adj /prep : Albert stood there with flowers in his hands .

艾伯特双手捧着花站在那里 。

（B）With +obj +doing : The child slept with the light burning .

那孩子点着灯睡觉 。

（C）with + obj + done :They stayed inside with the door locked .

他们待在里面 ，门锁着 。

（D）with + obj + to do :with nothing to do ,they went out for a walk .

因无事可做 ，他们便出去散步了 。
